But long before Hamilton became the musical juggernaut that it is, a young Lin Manuel Miranda made his first masterpiece back in 2008 that also so happened to win Best Musical. Blending a myriad of different styles of music from hip hop to Latin influenced to soul (etc.) while also telling a moving story about community and family made adapting this stage musical to the big screen a no brainer.
