All Episodes

DD08 – Make Mine Music (1946)

What do anthropomorphic hats, a singing whale, and a mediocre baseball team have in common? Honestly, nothing, but Disney made this movie anyways. Check out Make Mine Music to find out what The Dummies think of this truly random collection of shorts!

DD07 – The Three Caballeros (1944)

They’re called The Three Caballeros, but are they really gentlemen? And are there really three of them? Only one way to find out! This week we’re extending our stay in Latin America with Donald, José, and of course, Panchito. (Spoiler: yes, there are three of them.)

DD06 – Saludos Amigos (1942)

Travel plans cancelled? Quarantine got you down? Take a trip south with us as we talk Saludos Amigos and say “hello, friends” to some new – and some familiar! – faces across Latin America.

DD05 – Bambi (1942)

The world could use more sweet little deer with skunk-positive attitudes. Experience the love, loss, elation and heartbreak as we discuss Bambi’s journey from taking his first steps (and slides) to becoming The Great Prince of the Forest.

DD04 – Dumbo (1941)

Maybe he’s your favourite flying elephant, or maybe he’s the only flying elephant you know. Either way, Dumbo has got a lot to talk about – from those ears, to that pink elephant fever dream, to the racist stereotypes you probably don’t remember from childhood. Listen in as we dissect the high highs and low lows of this little elephant’s big adventure.

DD03 – Fantasia (1940)

Remember that one where Mickey wore the wizard hat, and there were dinosaurs, but also fairies and mermaids, and then a hippo did ballet and also Satan made an appearance? No, that wasn’t a trip, that was Fantasia. Follow us as we try to decipher everything from the film’s abstract sound and imagery to Cupid’s missing butthole (Spoiler: the centaurs have something to do with it).

DD02 – Pinocchio (1940)

When you wish upon a star… you notice some pretty weird stuff that you missed as a kid. Listen along this week as we watch everyone’s favorite puppet become a real boy – and talk about how Pinocchio is both exactly how we remembered it, and infinitely more terrifying.

DD01 – Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)

Magic mirror on the wall…what’s the oldest Disney animated feature of all?

We’re kicking off the inaugural episode of Disney Dummies by going all the way back to the movie that started it all, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Join us as we mine for gems and ID the poison apples along the way. Heigh ho!
