DD40 – The Emperor’s New Groove (2000)

There’s no time like the end of the year to discover a new groove! The Emperor’s New Groove is Disney animated slapstick at its best, and the Dummies are following along on a truly wacky mission to save Pacha’s home from the selfish King/llama Kuzco, and stop the evil Yzma and her right-hand himbo, Kronk, from doing MURDER (gasp!!). Groove along with us, if you dare!

DD39 – Dinosaur (2000)

After decades of audiences clamouring for a feature-film crossover between dinosaurs and lemurs, Disney finally delivered with Dinosaur, a movie starring a cast of colourful characters who love a long walk! Follow Aladar, Neera, and the Dummies as they traverse barren land to the mystical nesting ground – and maybe learn a lesson or two about friendship along the way.

DD38 – Fantasia 2000

Well, friends, we made it to the new millennium, and a fate far greater than the Y2K bug awaited us: instead, the Dummies have arrived at Fantasia 2000! We’re celebrating with a familiar apprentice, and some new short films that range from forgettable to spectacular – and a few celebrities, too!

DD37 – Tarzan (1999)

AaaaaaaaAAAAAAAaaaaAAAAAAAAAA!!! The Dummies are swinging through the jungle along with a group of gorillas and the man himself – Tarzan! Come for the cartoon nudity, stay for a series of absolute bangers from the one and only Phil Collins!

…also a first for the Disney Dummies: a special guest and the greatest Ape Man Brad Sales!

DD36 – Mulan (1998)

Let’s get down to business…to talk about how great Mulan is! The story! The action! The synth-y soundtrack! Li Shang!! Along with Mushu and our lucky cricket, the Dummies are journeying with our heroine and her loyal crew of misfits as they bring honour to Mulan’s family, the emperor, and ultimately, all of China.

DD35 – Hercules (1997)

Go the distance with the Dummies this week as we find out who puts the “glad” in gladiator! Sing along with everyone’s favourite Muses to the outstanding soundtrack while we talk everything Hercules, from villainous jerks to Air Hercs and all the action, love, laughs, and shouts of “that’s Phil’s boy!” in between.

DD34 – The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)

A children’s film that includes a song about the angry fires of hell doesn’t exactly scream “Disney,” but not even hellfire will prevent the Dummies from checking out The Hunchback of Notre Dame! Tune in for our discussion of some mind-bending visuals, a hauntingly cruel villain, and a complete inability to establish an overall tone – plus one truly memorable tune, sung among the bells of Notre Dame herself.

DD33 – Pocahontas (1995)

Just around the river bend of what fans might call Disney’s all-time greatest trio of films, we come upon one of their biggest missteps: Pocahontas. Though there’s a lot to be admired about the movie (“Colours of the Wind,” anyone??), this week the Dummies are doing their best to explore some of the problematic historical and social implications of this incredibly complicated story while celebrating some truly impressive achievements in animation.

DD32 – The Lion King (1994)

If everything the light touches was ours, then hey, we couldn’t wait to be king, either! Explore the thrill, joy, and heartbreak of the circle of life as the Dummies sing along to Hakuna Matata with Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, and a whole pride of other familiar faces.
