On this week’s Punch Up there’s no guest!? That’s right there’s no one joining Leslie and Angus in the PodCavern so they can relax and let their hair down. This week we see Mario and Luigi seek to find who put kale in their fridge, Georgie goes back for his boat (keen eared listeners might hear some kind of easter egg) and The Hardy Boys quit solving mysteries and live a normal life.

Annnd can you feel the love tonight?

For some reason romantic comedies get a bad rap but secretly we know everyone loves them to some degree. When done right they make you tear up, give you some good chuckles, and fills your heart with joy. And then there are the other ones which..y’know…we don’t talk about those ones. On this year’s Valentine’s special Tuong La and Love Birds Laura Gordon, Nivala Maharaj, and Alyssa Wooldridge love and laugh it out as they rank the Top 5 Rom-Coms in movies!

If you want to continue to support the PodCavern and are buying off Amazon for any reason, click on our affiliate link HERE! It doesn’t cost you any money and it’s a way of showing extra love to us as we get a small percentage of the cut 🙂

Ground Rules

  • It has to fit the category of romance and comedy
  • We are talking about movies and not TV
  • If you can argue that it’s a rom-com it probably is one
  • a typical Disney movie doesn’t count. Ie: Although there are funny parts in Lion King and there is a love story, we aren’t counting it

*Spoilers* Below is our Top 5 list from this episode as well as our own personal nominations throughout the episode.

Listen we all love fast food. No matter who you are you can’t deny the instant gratification of eating a greasy burger with fries from your favorite fast food joint. You may not feel “good” about it after but you eventually come crawling back because it’s oh so tasty (and convenient!). Now while there are plenty of great fast food chains, it’s the items that you can order from those restaurants that make it or break it. On this finger lickin’ episode, Tuong La and Fast Food Lovers Leslie Cserepy, Angus MacDonald, and Samantha Leggatt salivate and rank a Top 5 list of the best Fast Food Menu Items!

**SPECIAL GUEST LIST** Tyler Furness

1)God of War
2)Marvel’s Spiderman
3)Ni No Kuni 2
4)Red Dead Redemption
5)Visage

Special mention: Path of Exile: Betrayal

God of War is by far the game of the year. Every moment of that game was mind-blowing. The animations were on point, voice acting was solid, and the interchange between Kratos and Atreus was very well written. Walking around and exploring outside the main story mission led to interesting back
story and conversations between the two that just showed the depth of the story that Sony’s Santa Monica studio created. The game itself had me coming back for more, exploring all the areas I could and continuing to play past the game’s completion. With the recent addition of New Game+ it may
be time to pick it back up again and attempt my second run on the hardest difficulty!

Spiderman comes in for a close second. It was a very polished game that brought back a lot of nostalgia to playing the old Spiderman games. Webswinging was fluid and exactly what you wanted. You could swing around the town for ages and never get tired of it. Combat was good, and story/graphics
were really good. It just got a tad repetitive which took away from the enjoyment a bit.

Ni No Kuni 2 was an underrated RPG that released this year. It is not a direct follow up to the first one, but does have some continuations from
the first. They redid how combat is done, and it was a really smart decision. Combat is really well done, story is interesting, and flow of the game is
very nice.

While I haven’t played Red Dead Redemption personally, I have watched a lot of game play on it (including watching Tuong play on his stream here, shameless plugs), and was very impressed with the game itself. It has a great open world feel to it, with interesting characters, story, and overall game play.
Definitely plan on picking this up when it hits PC for 2019 (2019 game of the year contender?)

Visage was a very interesting release. It is a horror game that is a spiritual successor to the recently removed P.T (Silent Hills playable teaser that got axed
unfortunately). It is a very well done game that is super spooky and definitely feels like P.T. For those that enjoyed the P.T demo, I suggest giving this
game a go! (plus it contains some really neat easter eggs, go find them!)

To close out 2018, we have one last episode of Talkin’ Tuong for ya and it’s a juicy one! This month we have special guests Justin & Shannon Godelie (Pull the Plug) and Laura Gordon to help Tuong  ‘thwip’ into action as we talk about Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, break into a dance number and belt out a tune about Mary Poppins Returns, and swim into a CGI water explosion as we chat about Aquaman! As always this show is a Monthly Facebook Live Stream event so be sure to like the PodCavern Page to join the conversation next time!

If you want to support the PodCavern this holiday season and are buying off Amazon for any reason, click on our affiliate link HERE! It doesn’t cost you any money and it’s a way of showing extra love to us as we get a small percentage of the cut 🙂
