OooOooooOooOoooooOoo!

Spooky season may technically be over but before the spirit of Mariah Carey comes bursting into your timelines, we have one more belated Halloween special coming your way! So join Tuong and Castle Rockettes’s Spencer Dunn, Kate Ethier, and Cas Knihnisky as they use their ranking ouija board to summon a list of Top 5 Things Featuring Ghosts!

“Waving through a window”.

This week join Tuong and Laura Gordon as they take the PodCavern on the road to Ottawa! Look, they both love the musical Dear Evan Hansen but does that mean all broadway musicals should be turned into a big Hollywood movie? (Short answer: No. Long Answer: Listen to find out!). Join us as we chat about the Super Mario Bros. cast, 007’s fashion choices, and Ben Platt’s hair, while also talking about our movie of the week – 2021’s Dear Evan Hansen!

“I’m done running from my past.”

It’s been over 2 years since we have got a proper movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (since Spider-Man: Far From Home came out in June of 2019 to be exact). While the Disney+ Marvel shows have been doing a great job in their own rights expanding the universe, there was a lot of appetite to see a feature length movie in the MCU. After multiple multiple delays from the pandemic, the time has come finally to the nerds to rejoice! Was it worth the wait? Join Tuong and the Strongest Avenger Patricia Eddu as they talk about long anticipated Black Widow!

“Well we think of life like the seasons.”

When people think of horror movies they often think about jump scares, lots of blood, gore, spooky creatures, ghosts, or…*shudder* children. But some horror movies opt for a different approach where it’s horror of the mind, slowly peeling away at your psyche as you watch it, such as on this week’s episode of Talkin’ Tuong. So join Tuong and Castle Rockettes’s Spencer Dunn as they take a look at the bright and disturbing Swedish folk horror/cultish nightmare that is 2019’s Midsommar.

“Well, Hello Clarice”

Thanks to the bone-chilling performance of Anthony Hopkins, The Silence of the Lambs has become a franchise that has no shortage of sequels and spin offs that is continuing to be milked for all it’s worth. But what’s the big deal anyway? Join Tuong La and intrepid FBI detective in training, Kelley Oliver, as they watch this classic psychological thriller horror for the first time and crack the case on why 1991’s The Silence of the Lambs is one of the most revered movies of all time.

“It’s a-me!”

We are not quite done celebrating Mario’s 35th birthday in the PodCavern! Like many games that came to the Wii U, this particular one was revered by many but played by so few…until now! So join us this week as Tuong La and Doug MacKendrick talk about the newest (sort of) cat-filled adventure of Mario re-released on the Nintendo Switch – Super Mario 3D World and the brand new free expansion Bowser’s Fury!

Mama mia! It’s Mario time!
To celebrate our favourite mushroom-eating, high-jumping, adventure-seeking Italian plumber on his 35th birthday, we take a look back on all the Mario games that have brought us gamers so much joy over the years. While last year we ranked Top 5 Super Mario Games, this year we wanted to celebrate an aspect of these iconic platformers that is crucial to making these games what they are but are so often overlooked – the music! This week join Tuong La and Koopa Kids Samantha Leggatt, Spencer Moreland, and Alex Toth as they venture into the Mushroom Kingdom, high on a star power up, while grooving out and ranking Top 5 Super Mario Songs!

Featuring Maddox Campbell (Break A Wish) and CJ (Canadian Comedy Award Winner). In our first mini-episode, Paul cracks into his personal collection of fan fiction, and shares chapter 226 of “Sonic’s Ultimate Harem” with two of the show’s past champions.

Featuring Korri Birch (Good News Toronto), Emilie Overton (Blood Relations), and Brie Watson (The Second City, Improv Niagara). This week, the panel debates who would win a rap battle in the Shrek universe, which Game of Thrones characters are “attainable,” and the most dramatic voting round yet.

A Top 5 fit for a King!
The title of King is one the highest positions of powers that people across the world have yearned and fought for (maybe because you get a fancy crown and comfy velvet robe?). For everyone else, the King meant the ruler of a kingdom who called all the shots, where you just really hoped they were a kind King and not the type that believes in you know…an ol’fashion beheading. But what makes a good King or rather interesting King? This week we’ll find out! Join Tuong La and Royal Court Jesters/ Pull the Plug’s Justin Godelie, Shannon Godelie, and Dan Foerster as they obey the royal decree of the PodCavern and all hail the Top 5 Kings list!
