“Why do I want to attend Harvard? If I was white, would you even have to ask me that question?”

Geeky kids. A party gone wrong. Geeky kids are forced into a life or death situation involving drugs. These are all beats from thousands of other movies that we’ve seen before. So is it possible to have a unique perspective with these well worn tropes? Short answer: YES! This week join Tuong and special guest Stenley Philippe as they discuss Rick Famuyiwa’s Comedy/Drama drug-filled adventure – Dope (2015)!

A Top 5 fit for a King!
The title of King is one the highest positions of powers that people across the world have yearned and fought for (maybe because you get a fancy crown and comfy velvet robe?). For everyone else, the King meant the ruler of a kingdom who called all the shots, where you just really hoped they were a kind King and not the type that believes in you know…an ol’fashion beheading. But what makes a good King or rather interesting King? This week we’ll find out! Join Tuong La and Royal Court Jesters/ Pull the Plug’s Justin Godelie, Shannon Godelie, and Dan Foerster as they obey the royal decree of the PodCavern and all hail the Top 5 Kings list!

Celebrating 100 episodes of Ranked!
Almost 4 years ago there was an idea. An idea of Tuong uniting three other guests to bicker, banter, and passionately put together arbitrary Top 5 lists of anything and everything. Over the last few years we have ranked everything from Sandwich Toppings, to TV Theme Songs, to a variety of Fictional Animals. But for the 100th episode, we knew we had to go above and beyond to make a list that TRULY does not matter that also honours the legacy of all Ranked episodes (so far).

So join us as Tuong La and the A-Team Angus MacDonald, Samantha Leggatt, and Leslie Cserepy look back on all of the winners of each Top 5 list we have ever done, pit them together in a battle royale of which #1 was the best, and record a marathon episode where we rank and order ONE HUNDRED EPISODES in Ranked’s 100th Episode Spectacular!

When you wish upon a star… you notice some pretty weird stuff that you missed as a kid. Listen along this week as we watch everyone’s favorite puppet become a real boy – and talk about how Pinocchio is both exactly how we remembered it, and infinitely more terrifying.

This week on Talkin’ Tuong, we go on a grand visit to a beloved 6 season show that got itself a movie with 2019’s Downton Abbey (now streaming on Crave). Join Tuong and Quarantine Buddy/Life Pal Laura Gordon (Disney Dummies) as one of them gets to revisit a familiar and juicy dramatic world they enjoy, and the other tries to figure out why everyone in this movie is so horny for English royalty.

What’s this??? IIIITTTTSSSSS TIIIIIIIIIMMMMMEEEE!!! The Improv Punch Up is BACK!!!! Leslie and Tuong resurrect the show for a very special SONIC THEMED episode! Get ready for a brand new version of YOUR FAVOURITE HEDGEHOG just FILLED with Robots, Italian Art Knockoffs, a BUNCH of cocaine. and of course…..a BRAND NEW Re-Re- Design of Sonic! Get ready folks, cuz it gets bloody!

Talkin’ Tuong returns in it’s first episode of the decade to talk about a very eventful month!

Join Tuong La as he goes solo to ramble about all the news that came out in January as well as Adam Sandler’s Uncut Gems, Sam Mendes’s 1917, and the nightmare that everyone can’t stop talking about…CATS!

And the Oscars go to…

First off HAPPY THIRD BIRTHDAY to the PodCavern! **thunderous applause** It’s been a helluva ride and there are no plans on slowing down this Top 5 train!

Now let’s get down to why we are all gathered here today. Movies. Oscar season is quickly approaching and every year on Ranked’s birthday we do intensive research (aka binge) to discover the best movies of yesteryear. 2019 started off seeming like quite possibly one of the weakest years in movies in a long time, but in the last few months of the decade it managed to put out some truly remarkable films that managed to flip that entire narrative. So join Tuong La and Hollywood Big Wigs Nivala Maharaj, Doug MacKendrick, and Melanie Moshi as they vigorously regale and argue over the best movies of 2019!

10 years of movies, that can’t be THAT hard to Rank right?…right?
The 2010 decade is coming to an end and, looking back, the movie landscape has shifted and changed drastically in the last 10 years. The Twenty-Tens gave rise to streaming, obligatory sequels, reboots, and shared universes; while many smaller indie films struggled to break through the box office. The amount of content we face these days is endless so coming with a list of our favorites was a tough one (especially since it’s been such a great decade for movies).  So join us as Tuong La and Sassy Cinephiles Taylor Fleming, Stephanie Ridgeway, and Sean Mulhern pull out all their movie knowledge and rank down the behemoth of a list that is Top 5 Movies of the 2010 Decade!
