Mama mia! It’s Mario time!
To celebrate our favourite mushroom-eating, high-jumping, adventure-seeking Italian plumber on his 35th birthday, we take a look back on all the Mario games that have brought us gamers so much joy over the years. While last year we ranked Top 5 Super Mario Games, this year we wanted to celebrate an aspect of these iconic platformers that is crucial to making these games what they are but are so often overlooked – the music! This week join Tuong La and Koopa Kids Samantha Leggatt, Spencer Moreland, and Alex Toth as they venture into the Mushroom Kingdom, high on a star power up, while grooving out and ranking Top 5 Super Mario Songs!
Mama mia! It’s Mario time!
Age is just a number, especially to these butt-woopin’ seniors.
When we think of old people it is easy to immediately imagine that stereotype of a feeble hunched-back, white-haired individual that’s slowly shuffling along with their walking cane and shaking their fist at kids. Well today’s nominees completely shatter that stereotype in such a way that if you were to ever compare them to it, you would wish you never mentioned it. Join Tuong La and Ass Kicking Experts Kristine Shadid, Paul JP, and Amanda Parker as they clench their butts while talking about Top 5 Old People Who Could Kick Your Ass!
Stop! In the name of love (songs)!
It’s time for yet another Valentine’s Ranked Special! Music and Love have gone hand in hand since the dawn of the cavemen (probably). As long as there has been music, there have been people out there singing about their feelings for one another. So how do you make a good song from a topic that has been covered millions of times without being overly cheesy, obvious, and copying what’s come before? Join Tuong La and Palentine’s Kristy Matheson, Amanda Gulka-Armstrong, and Laura Gordon as they get hot and steamy while ranking Top 5 Love Songs!
Pull up those overalls and throw on your neon tracksuits because this week we are going back to the 90’s!
Aiight home skillet, do we have the episode for YOU today! The musical era of the 90’s was, to say the least, an interesting and defining decade of what music would eventually become. Moving away from the whiny guitars and synth we got from the 80’s, we started transitioning into a variety of different sounds from the rising popularity of Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B, Grunge, and Ska/Punk. We also got our fair share of boys band and pop groups too! So this week join Tuong La and Phat and Fly guests Axandre Lemours, Colleen Wang, and Victoria Luloff as they rank ‘all that and a bag of chips’ while discussing Top 5 90’s songs!
A Top 5 fit for a King!
The title of King is one the highest positions of powers that people across the world have yearned and fought for (maybe because you get a fancy crown and comfy velvet robe?). For everyone else, the King meant the ruler of a kingdom who called all the shots, where you just really hoped they were a kind King and not the type that believes in you know…an ol’fashion beheading. But what makes a good King or rather interesting King? This week we’ll find out! Join Tuong La and Royal Court Jesters/ Pull the Plug’s Justin Godelie, Shannon Godelie, and Dan Foerster as they obey the royal decree of the PodCavern and all hail the Top 5 Kings list!
At least we had video games in 2020.
It is not breaking any new ground to say 2020 was a dumpster fire. In that raging dumpster fire though, there was a small little ray of hope and escapism in the name of …video games! It is not hyperbole to say that video games provided that much needed comfort in these dark times to the entire world. And while 2020 brought out the worst in gamers (we’re looking at you The Last of Us 2/Cyberpunk entitled knuckleheads), it also brought out some real fantastic game experiences that we were able to get completely immersed in. It gave us a way to connect with family/friends digitally, in a world where we couldn’t physically see each other. So join Tuong La and ‘Sus Gamers’ Angus MacDonald, Ethan Howieson, and Matthew Whalley as they celebrate the best games of 2020!
Celebrating 100 episodes of Ranked!
Almost 4 years ago there was an idea. An idea of Tuong uniting three other guests to bicker, banter, and passionately put together arbitrary Top 5 lists of anything and everything. Over the last few years we have ranked everything from Sandwich Toppings, to TV Theme Songs, to a variety of Fictional Animals. But for the 100th episode, we knew we had to go above and beyond to make a list that TRULY does not matter that also honours the legacy of all Ranked episodes (so far).
So join us as Tuong La and the A-Team Angus MacDonald, Samantha Leggatt, and Leslie Cserepy look back on all of the winners of each Top 5 list we have ever done, pit them together in a battle royale of which #1 was the best, and record a marathon episode where we rank and order ONE HUNDRED EPISODES in Ranked’s 100th Episode Spectacular!
Ranking finds a way. Long before humans walked this little blue planet, there were prehistoric reptiles of all shapes and sizes that happily roamed the Earth (well at least until a giant ass meteor got…
“They may take our lives, but they’ll never take away our Top 5 Lists!”
Part of the staying power of a movie is an expertly delivered movie line. When all things about a movie are firing on all cylinders (the music, the shot composition, the delivery, etc.) it can set up a perfect moment for a movie line that lives with us well after the credits roll. So this week, join Tuong La and ‘My Wiiifes’ Angus MacDonald, Nathan Hartswick, and Annie Russel as they combine their cinema brains together and make a Top 5 Iconic Movie Lines list!

Japanese Animation, or Anime, has always been popular but only for a niche audience. Only in the last decade has it hit the mainstream in a big way where gone are the days (well…mostly) when people stick up their noses when you tell them you watch anime! But what if you haven’t dipped your toes into this incredibly popular format yet and you have no idea where to start? Well choosing a starter anime show just got easier ! Join Tuong La and Spiky Haired Magic Teen Fighters Axandre Lemours, Whitney Chen, and Kalvin Nhan as they raise their power levels to over 9000 and “Rank-sengans” a Top 5 Anime Shows for Beginner List!
